Project Overview
Spiked is a cocktail recipe book featuring forty different recipes targeted at college students. The book includes classics such as sex on the beach and the basic screwdriver but in a beginner friendly way. The design and illustrations make it easy to follow along, even without following exact measurements. Spiked also features the main character, Scoot, who follows the reader through the book giving a fun fact about each cocktail along the way creating another layer to the learning experience.
My Contributions
Spiked was entirely illustrated and designed by myself after researching classic cocktail recipes. The book includes 40 unique character and glass illustrations, a front and back cover, dedication page, title page, table of contents and about the author page.
Spiked was the complete book I created for my illustration senior thesis to showcase what I've learned through my 4 years of school. Spiked was originally intended to be an around the world cocktail book with a mid century modern feel and more detailed illustration work. Throughout the beginning design and research processes the target shifted from a cultural focus to a more beginner friendly focus. I shifted the illustrations to a more simple design, following a diagram format to show general proportions of each ingredient so that the reader can "just eyeball it" if they so choose.
